What are the POP3 and IMAP differences ?

Authors list

The mailserver serves e-mail, both incoming (POP3 and IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP), and is usually located on the same server that serves web hosting.

POP3 (Post Office ProtocolVersion 3):

In this case, sent and downloaded emails are stored on computers or hard drives. For example, if you set up your email account in POP3, then the emails after you download them to your computer will be deleted from the server if you want.

IMAP(InternetMessageAccessProtocol):

In this case, all emails are always stored on the mail server. In case you set up your email account in IMAP, then after downloading your email locally, they will still be available on the server. This setup type is for users who have their email account set up on more than one device (e.g., mobile, tablet, laptop).
